good nights

Guess who has slept through the night for the past 6 nights in a row?! Thumbody has found a way to soothe herself and we couldn't be happier. We still cross our fingers when we go to bed... (did I really get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep? - of course not! My maternal instincts have me awake multiple times wondering if everything is ok?!) We'll mention it to the pediatrician but I won't be taking the thumb away anytime soon. I do hope that we find a better soothing option once she gets older, but for now - the pacifier falls out and the thumb is in!

"My Friend Emily" is actually the name of this doll that Reese LOVES to pieces! Who knew Reese could do Tae Bo?! She regularly knocks "Emily" right out of the swing. Our next trick will be teaching Maya how to retrieve "Emily" and give her back to Reese - we might have to wait until Reese masters reach and grasp for that one!

March of Dimes

Bundled Up for the March for Babies!!

From left - Craig, Rick, Sandra & Rick. Leashes and strollers - we were up for an adventure! It ended up sunny - but a bit on the chilly side. Everyone had a great time - dogs included!

Thanks to everyone that helped us raise over $600!! It was such a great feeling to see all of the NICU graduates and how far they've come. It was also nice to see many of the nurses that had helped care for Reese and Ashton. We're already thinking about next year - I put in a request for warmer weather and told Reese she would be walking the 3 miles!

April Update

Reese's first birthday was a blast....OK so it hasn't been THAT LONG since I've posted, but it sure seems like it! I blame the hiatus on my husband for being overly ambitious rather than my lack of ambition. Rick is wanting to get the basement finished sooner than later so he has been hard at work...electrical work...lots of wires and cords down there I'm told. He worked so hard that our internet was down for over a week!! We survived but are happy to be back online!!

Reese & Kim
Reese seems to enjoy daycare - I've been back to work now for three full weeks and we are slowly but surely falling into a routine. I had been worried about Reese not being able to sleep with all of the lively toddlers around. Now, when I go pick her up and someone is screaming she pays no attention. She is still getting up at least twice during the night, so we are in deliberation regarding that matter. I am hoping for a compromise - SOON!

Tummy time is getting more enjoyable - being able to look around and not have to focus solely on holding her head up has been a big step. She has even caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror a time or two - what a lively baby she sees kicking and waving back at her!

SNOW IN APRIL?! Mother Nature has been quick to give lessons to this mom and baby - daycare drop off in rain, snow, AND crazy winds. I am getting pretty quick at loading and unloading (not to say that I always remember everything the first trip!) New signs have just been posted and as of April 21 the route we take to daycare is going to be closed for an estimated 6 months to widen 168th Street. The new route and traffic issues may get interesting....it's only two miles....Reese and I may have better luck in my sneakers and her baby carrier!

Just hanging out with her cousin Ashton - we are looking forward to the end of May when Ashton's adoption will be finalized!
