Lake Zorinsky

Chillin in the shade at Lake Zorinsky
Working on grasping the bib and bringing it to my mouth

I have mastered the fingers/thumb to mouth concept

We were able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather today! "We" meaning Rick, myself, Reese, Maya and Kaycee all made the trek to Zorinsky Lake. The dogs were able to get some swimming in and then we took a 4 mile walk/jog around the lake. We were in the minority...most people brought either a kid or a dog, few had both. We did see one other couple - two kids, one on the way AND a dog (we thought we were CRAZY?!)

Reese had to go to the doctor's office this morning - a case of pink eye. The doctor informed us that many times children will rub their nose, then their eyes...causing pink eye. After examination, he said Reese's nose looked good and it was likely another child who touched her eye. A pleasant thought - another child's booger finger stuck in our child's eye (EWW!) Ah well, a few eye drops twice a day and we should be in the clear. Maybe I'll have her wear her sunglasses at daycare as protective goggles against booger fingers?!

Stranger Danger

Well, it's official - we are going through the developmental stage of separation anxiety/fear of strangers. A picture is worth a thousand words or in Reese's case...a THOUSAND SCREAMS! She could have warned me BEFORE I took her to a graduation reception out of town - lesson learned. Reese and I ended up in a back room all by ourselves as she was screaming hysterically and could not be comforted. I attributed it to the number of people that were there, the noise level and the fact that she was a bit tired. However, over the weekend she has made it very clear that even one on one - strangers (family members included) can cause a complete mental meltdown these days. Lets hope that this stage doesn't last too long!
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING VIDEO CONTAINS BRIEF NUDITY

On a lighter note - Ms. Reese gave me the BEST Mother's Day gift EVER - squeals and smiles galore Sunday morning! Despite her constant wide open mouth smiles - noise rarely comes out. Today - things were much different. make sure you have your volume up!Reese has been spending quality time in the nude these days to combat a nasty diaper rash - and she loves to be naked. I hope fresh air and sunlight to her nude little body might help her multiple dermatological issues (exzema, diaper rash...you name it, she's got it!) We have creams galore!! Hopefully - she will grow out of skin issues along with stranger anxiety rather quickly!
