Busy, Busy, Busy

So where has the time gone?! Reese is nearly 7 months old and is a constant reminder of how fast time can pass! We have a few friends with new babies - 7-8 lbs and seemingly so tiny. It's hard to remember Reese at a whopping 5 lbs! She is changing by the week - this week she is sitting solo! As she gets tired, her belly nearly touches the floor between her outstretched legs - babies are so limber!! We won't say she has it mastered but she is definitely on her way!
She loves to eat - and can get a bit impatient. How to explain to an infant the importance of swallowing before the next bite??? We just finished - well almost finished our 4 days of prunes. Our pediatrician suggested doing all of the Stage #1 foods for four days each - prunes are only getting a three day stint, no apparent allergic reactions but we don't have it in the budget to buy that many wipes!! We will keep prunes in our "in case of constipation" arsenal - those things work and believe it or not, the kid loves them!
A few photos of what Reese has been up to...

this and that

4th of July - Reese joined us for a day at our friends' cabin by Thomas Lakes. She didn't mind all the people and didn't so much as flinch while the fireworks were going off all day. Thanks to Uncle Bob - she was dressed to impress in this fancy Red/White/Blue outfit! Daddy learned a lesson - getting home even an hour later than planned can make for a LONG NIGHT when you are dealing with an infant and a bedtime schedule (sometimes mommies nag for a reason). She was beyond overtired when we got home and getting her to bed was a screaming, tear streaming event. Bottle rockets couldn't even drown out the festivities going on in our house. Lesson learned.

Reese has rolling tummy to back mastered (to her right anyway). So, tummy time quickly turns into back time! She rolls to her side to reach for toys but needs a bit of assistance to roll back onto her belly. She continues to LOVE her feet and her THUMB!

Some nice nurses from the West Point Hospital made Reese her own personlized scrubs! They finally fit!! Hard to see but it has Ms. Kuiken sewn onto the pocket. These will definitely be a keepsake for years to come!

Reese LOVES the jumperoo and it's great for restraining er I mean entertaining her while I am cooking/showering/etc. She would like to thank her cousin Connor for growing out of it...I'm told once babies crawl they loose interest in the jumperoo real fast. For now - it does the trick!

Solid Food...kind of

We started off with a plastic spoon - a bit big for the job.

Carrots, carrots a most delicious treat
The more you scoop the more I eat
The more I eat the bigger I get
So fill the spoon cause I'm not done yet!

Daddy even gets in on this feeding action! The high chair has a five point harness...in case we want to feed her upside down?? I suppose once she actually grows into the high chair and is a bit more mobile we'll be happy for the extra restraints!

Not too eventful - I thought we might have to wear ponchos the first few times we fed her!! In the first picture you can almost see her bottom teeth - forgot to mention that in the last post. We knew she was probably teething...chewing on everything and drooling like crazy. At her Dr. appointment they checked things out and noticed her front two bottom teeth were through - such a big girl!
